Mrs Napier, Amy, and Jeffrey, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear husband and father, Allan. He was my good friend and colleague for many years at Computer Consoles, Inc., from when I started there in the early 1970s until his retirement about twenty years later. As a fellow programmer at CCI we were often on the same team - we had a shared love of computer programming, problem solving, and gadgets. Allan was often the one called on to solve the most intractable hardware & software bugs, or to craft an elegant algorithm to handle a complex problem. He was a great systems programmer in those early days of the computer revolution. I remember his gentle manner and good humor, and can still see him puffing on his pipe as he pondered the intricacy of some puzzle. When the job kept us working overtime, as it did too often, he would talk of pride of his family and especially his children. It was a great honor to work alongside him, and to share his wisdom, wit, and good company. Again, my sympathies to you at this time; I will always be grateful for having known and worked with Allan.
