Gertrude Kash, 90, passed away Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Highland Hospital, Rochester. She was a lifelong resident of her beloved Rochester New York. During World War II, she worked in Washington at the Office of Price Administration. She sang professionally and enjoyed singing all her life, most recently singing with the JCC Choral Group. She considered health and exercise very important and was a member of the JCC Silver Sneakers. After raising a family, she worked for the Times Union and the Visiting Nurses Association as a home health aide. Gert was an active member of the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. Predeceased by daughter, Sara D. Kash. Survived by son, George (Pamela) Kash; daughters, Susan (Dr. Anthony) Picone & Laurie Kash; brother, Sidney (Ruth) Katz; grandchildren, Adam, Stephen & Julie Kash and Benjamin Picone; son-in-law, Dr. Fred Ruckdeschel.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the entire staff of the Acute Care for the Elderly 4th floor West, at Highland Hospital, for their compassionate and skilled care.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 5th at Parsky-Levy Memorial Chapel (New Location), 21 Lincoln Ave., Pittsford. Interment, Britton Road Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Strathallan Hotel, 550 East Ave. from 3:30PM - 5:30Pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions are preferred to Visiting Nurse Hospice, 2180 Empire Blvd., Webster, New York 14580.
