Biography

Kansas City, MO: July 26, 2008. Survived by daughter, Melissa Berman of Montauk, NY; son, Jonathan (Melissa) Berman of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Allyson & Jacob Berman; sister, Bernice Stone. A native to Rochester, Shelly spent his childhood with his mother Julia, father Max, brothers Mike and Norman and sisters, Janet and Bernice. He graduated from Monroe High School and then served in the United States Air Force before attending and graduating from Syracuse University where he studied communications and history. He worked in show business as an agent for the William Morris agency and later a producer at United Artists in New York City. He had two children with wife Fran and they eventually moved to the Washington DC area where Shelly worked in publishing until the time of his retirement. He spent the last decade of his life in Kansas City with his son Jonathan and his wife and children. Shelly's ease, humor and good nature made him friend to many and throughout his life friendship and family were paramount. Funeral Services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 30th at Parsky-Levy Memorial Chapel (New Location), 21 Lincoln Ave., Pittsford. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to charity of donor’s choice. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at 120 Pearl Street, Canandaigua.
